Pierce the Night

I didn't doubt your
fire when you put
on a dress and made
us laugh like wicked
monkeys
then inspired dead
poets and dreamers
of dreams
in heaven
and hell
painted white numbers
together with
a symphony of meaning
I'm sorry you didn't
hear the song we
played for you
a song of love
it should have been
louder
a deafening
roar
a song of summer
a melodic embrace
that you couldn't
ignore
so fierce it raised
the sun and moon and
pierced the night
